Outreach: NTIC Alumni Deliver a Free Health Support to IDP Camp in Abuja

The recent Outreach initiative by NTIC Alumni Relations marked a powerful demonstration of service and compassion at the IDP Camp, Area 1, FCT Abuja, on Saturday, 6th December 2025. The health-focused outreach aligned with NTIC’s commitment to humanitarian service and sustainable community development, ensuring vulnerable populations received much-needed medical attention.

From early morning, alumni volunteers—including medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals—were present to coordinate registration, consultation, treatment, and counseling in an organized and welcoming environment.

                             Outreach

The Outreach program provided essential healthcare services at no cost to beneficiaries, ensuring access to basic medical support for internally displaced persons. Services delivered during the outreach included general medical consultations, blood pressure screening, malaria testing and treatment, free distribution of prescribed medications, preventive health education, and basic maternal and child healthcare support.

Through this outreach effort, many residents were diagnosed and treated for common but serious conditions such as malaria, hypertension, minor infections, and other preventable illnesses. The structured approach ensured both immediate care and practical health awareness for long-term wellbeing.

Beyond treatment, the Outreach addressed broader health awareness needs within the camp community. Preventive education and counseling played a key role in equipping beneficiaries with knowledge to manage and prevent future health challenges.

The outreach also strengthened trust and solidarity within the camp. Expressions of gratitude and renewed hope among residents reflected the deeper impact of compassionate engagement. The day served as a reminder that community-driven outreach initiatives can restore dignity while addressing urgent needs.

The success of the Outreach was made possible through the dedication of alumni volunteers, medical professionals who offered their expertise, generous supporters who contributed resources, and camp coordinators who ensured smooth collaboration.

Their combined efforts demonstrate how structured alumni outreach programs can deliver measurable social value while strengthening community bonds.

NTIC Alumni Relations remains committed to expanding its Outreach initiatives to reach more underserved communities. By sustaining health-focused outreach programs, the Alumni Community aims to promote preventive healthcare, restore hope, and create long-term impact across Nigeria.
